Mitigation of Emergency Planning Course Work

Mitigation is a very important process in conserving the environment since it reduces the risks of damage of property and loss of lives of human beings and animals. This activity is very necessary because through it, resources in the environment can be used in the right manner. There are several hazards in the environment, which can be mitigated in several ways. One of these hazards is flood. Floods can be mitigated through formation of regulatory and planning measures, creating reward, and penalty strategy to those who are either negatively or positively involved in this phenomenon, and creating public awareness and education in the community. Another common hazard in the environment is soil erosion. This phenomenon can be mitigated through public awareness, creating of funds to enable preventive measures, engaging in vital decision-making, planning process especially by the government, and taking responsibilities. Fire is another hazard, which needs a very organized planning so as to mitigate it. Fire can be mitigated through creation of funds to buy the necessary equipment, forming a committee to look into cases of fire and determine the likelihood of fire in some places, proper planning, and decision-making and creating awareness as well educating the public. Oil spill has also been considered a serious hazard, especially to aquatic life. So as to mitigate this hazard, it is important to develop awareness to individuals in several regions on the importance of aquatic life. It is also very important to come up with strategies, which are geared at ensuring that no one dumps oil in oceans and proper security personnel should be utilized so as to minimize this vice.
